So our child had a tantrum and dug her finger nails into the door interior vinyl. Any ideas on how we can fix this. I feel like it’s pretty shitty that a small nine year old can completely reck this with just her finger nails. You couldn’t do that on my Kia that’s for sure.

One of my sons did that to my Ford Territory, in an autistic anxiety attack, it is after all only a soft fabric.

One would think that panel can be replaced. Best talk to your dealer about the cost to do soo. If it’s high insurance might be an option.

It's the industry perception these days that "soft touch" materials = "quality". Read any car review and they mark down hard surfaces, and praise the tactile. Unfortunately there is a durability trade-off between the hard surface plastics and the "quality" ones.

Maybe put something like this to prevent more damage to it for the meantime? Your child can pull it down but it’s there should they want to scratch again.

There’s also bite toys that you can buy that may help manage the events… but they may have it already…

Hang in there!

You may be able to gently heat it with a hair dryer, this might allow the stretched vinyl regain its shape

It’s pretty shitty that you let a 9 year old to get away with that, and even worse that you are blaming the car.
