ANCAP published a three-star SEALION 5 result on 29 September 2026, covering the Australian and New Zealand Essential and Premium variants. It uses the new 2026–2028 criteria, so its percentages should not be ranked directly against older protocols.
The report lists Safe Driving 48%, Crash Avoidance 51%, Crash Protection 79% and Post Crash 74%. ANCAP identifies weaknesses including no emergency lane-keeping intervention in tested road-edge scenarios and no child presence detection.
These findings belong to this model and assessment. They do not justify assuming that all BYD vehicles have the same safety result.
