The vehicle storage section of the Australian Warranty and Service Handbook recommends keeping the traction battery SOC between 40% and 60% if the vehicle will be unused for more than 7 days; storage for more than 3 months also requires periodic recharging and bringing the SOC back into that range.
This applies to long-term storage and should not be simplified to “all BYD vehicles should only be charged to 60% in everyday use.” Everyday use, long-term storage, and instrument-panel battery calibration are different situations.
If you plan to be away for a long time, check the latest manual for your vehicle’s requirements for the traction battery and low-voltage battery, and arrange regular inspections. This post has not verified whether the same requirements apply in other markets or to all models.
